Obituary of Mrs. Ida Smith with no source noted: Mrs. Ida Emma Smith, 86, for 15 years a resident of Waterloo, died Wednesday afternoon at the home of her son, William A. Smith, 312 Charles street, of carcinoma and complications. Ida Emma Hosier was born on March 2, 1854, the daughter of J. C. and Olive (Wright) Hosier, at Forestville, in Delaware county, Iowa. She was married to William W. Smith on Nov. 18, 1871, at Lamont, Ia. Her husband died March 10, 1923. Before coming to Waterloo, Mrs. Smith had resided in Dubuque. Surviving are four sons, William, Waterloo; C. E., Clinton, Ia.; Roy J., address unknown, and Raymond F., Chicago; a daughter Huldah, Chicago, and a brother John W. Hosier, Oelwein, Ia; also 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Two daughters, Mamie Smith and Mrs. Ruth Servatius, preceded her in death. The body was taken to the Parrott and Wood funeral home.
