1900 U. S. Census of Burt, Kossuth Co., Iowa shows John W., his wife Ida and their children Clarence, Earl, Jess, May, Lydia, Delia, Millie and Ruth. John W. and sons Clarence and Earl are farm laborers. Jess, May and Lydia attend school. All family members born in Iowa.
On the 1920 Census index of Pocahontas Co., Iowa John W. Hosier appears age 59, with wife Ida O., children Millie B. and Carl W., granddaughter Rachel age 6. All born in Iowa. ED 205, sheet 2, line 71.
In sister, Ida's obituary in 1940, it is noted that John W. Hosier is living at Oelwein, Iowa.
Obituary from the Waterloo Daily Courier, 7 October 1948: John Wesley Hoser, 89, long time resident of Waterloo and Casebeer Heights, who has been living with a daughter, Mrs. William Dumire, at Balsam Lake, Wis., died there Tuesday at 7 p. m. of complications incident to advanced age. It was learned here Thursday morning by relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p. m. in Balsam Lake. He will be buried there also. A laborer here, Mr. Hosier retired a number of years ago and moved to Balsam Lake to live with his daughter in 1945. He married Ida Olive Bartlett in the early 1880's. She died here about nine years ago. All children of the couple survive, including four sons and five daughters. There are 28 living grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
