On the 1920 Census of Pocahontas Co., Iowa Jessie is age 31, with wife Minnie M. age 33 and daughter Marie J. age 1 8/12. All born in Iowa. ED 205, Sheet 1, Line 59.
On the 1930 U. S. Census of Garfield, Pocahontas Co., Iowa Jesse O. Hosier appears with his wife, Minnie M., daughter Marie J., son Richard L. and mother-in-law Louise M. Ives. Jesse's occupation is farmer.
Ida County Pioneer Record, Dec. 9. 1971: Jessie Oliver Hosier, son of Ida Barlett and John Wesley Hosier was born in Clayton County, Iowa on December 13, 1887 and passed away November 27, 1971 at the age of 83 years. He was born in a log cabin which his father had built on the Turkey River and spent his boyhood in Kossuth, Hancock and Black Hawk Counties, Iowa. He completed eighth grade and attended the Academy at Morningside College in Sioux City. While employed as a tiler, digging ditches by hand, for M. N. Ives of Rolfe, he met and married Minnie M. Ives, the hired girl. They were married January 10, 1917 at the farm home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Ives. Two children were born to this union: Marie, Mrs. Darrell J. Noll and Richard. Mr. Hosier farmed in the Rolfe community for thirty years, and also lived at Bison, South Dakota; Sac City and Plover, Iowa and Milan, Missouri. For the past year, the Hosier resided at Colonial Manor at Odebolt, Ia. In 1967, Jess and Minnie observed their Golden Wedding anniversary.
He was a member of the Plover Methodist Church and for many years served as Junior department superintendent of the Rolfe Presbyterian Sunday School, sang in the choirs at Plover and Milan and was active in the Pocahontas County farm Bureau. He was a member of the Seaman Lodge No. 126 AF & AM, Milan, Mo. Survivors include the widow, Minnie; daughter, Marie; son Richard; ten grandchildren; four great-grandsons; one brother, Carl and three sisters: Mrs. May Stearns, Mrs. Lydia Hodges and Mrs. Millie Dumire. Services were held Nov. 30, 1971 at the Plover Methodist church with Rev. Fred C. Rowley officiating, Bearers were David Van Alstine, Glen Forsythe, Wayne Henderson, Richard Bush, Eugene Hamond and Harold Oneal. "How Great Thou Art: and Sweet Peach", "The Gift of God's Love" were sung by Mrs. Fred Rowley with Shannon Henderson at organist. Burial was in the Clinton Garfield Cemetery at Rolfe; Flowers were arranged by Mr. and Mrs. Conrad MacDonald and Mrs. Floyd Hinkler.
