Martha Armitie Hosier

The Palmyra Items, Friday, March 24, 1933, Page 1, Col. 4: Mrs. Philip Snider. Martha A. Hosier was born January 7, 1857 at Manchester, Iowa, and passed from this life March 15, 1933, at the home near Palmyra at the age of 76 years 2 months and 8 days. She was married to Philip Snider on October 21, 1884, at O'Neill, Nebraska. To this union four children were born, Ella Gould and Clarence Snider of Palmyra, Linda Sloane, of Silver Lake, Kansas and an infant who preceded her mother in death. Mrs. Snider has lived in and around Palmyra for the past 31 years. She was a faithful member of the Presbyterian church. She has been in poor health for a number of years, but was always patient and pleasant to all with whom she came in contact. Besides her husband, she leaves three children, two grand daughters, one grandson and a number of other relatives. The funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon in the Presbyterian church with the Rev. Samuel Waring in charge. Mrs. Marie Olson and Miss Eva Taylor sang "Lead Kindly Light", "Under His Wing and Nearer My God to Thee." Interment took place in Rosewood cemetery and Mrs. Snider was carried to her resting place by John and Alex Thomson, Guy McKee, Orin Doty, Otto Belz and Alfred Flynn under the direction of Mr. Guy Wemple.
