The Clinton Herald, Clinton, Iowa newspaper: Charles E. Smith, Funeral services for Charles E. Smith, who died Friday morning in Jane Lamb hospital, will be held Monday at 2 p. m. in the Shadduck Funeral home. The Rev. F. G. Williams, Grace church, will officiate and the body will be taken to the Fairmont crematorium for cremation. Mr. Smith was born June 16, 1877, at Manchester, Iowa. He was married in 1901 to Sara Sparks in Dubuque and they moved to Clinton, to spend 37 years here. He was an employee of the Iten Biscuit Co and took an active interest in local athletic affairs. He was a prominent authority on White Wyandotte chickens, winning trophies all over the country on his entries. Surviving are two sons, Charles E., Jr. of Chicago, and Walter, Clinton; a grandson, Charles E. III, Chicago, one sister, Miss Hulda Smith, Chicago; two brothers, Raymond of Chicago and Roy of Pensacola, Fla., and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother and sister.
