Ralph ... I was not able to find any more definitive information concerning Newt's burial. The funeral home records simply state what the DC has -- he was buried at Chaves, NM. The location of the Chaves P. O. appears to have been at the intersection of US 285 and county road 44A (Dona Ana road), rather than the other location I gave earlier. This is where Mattie's property was (as per BLM GLO website); Ben Holladay's property was 6 - 7 miles east, down this road, which fits very well with what is stated on the DC.

My best guess is that Newt was buried on Ben & Cordie's property, which they sold in 1941 - 1943. I have the name & address of the current landowner; I will most likely write to him to inquire if he is aware of any burial(s) on the property. Other than that, I am about out of options.
