Ray Duncan, head, 44 (1875), widower, born CA both parents born IL, laborer-road. Note that Everett is not with him. Daughter Elsie is listed as Elsie Crews, living with the Crews family, just a few families away on the same page.

At the time of his death, Ray was a resident of Tulare County and visiting in Willowbrook. On May 28, 1995, Ethel Pratt Brown told me that Ray died at her home. He was staying with her family while he was sick and was in bed. She was getting ready to go out and was talking to him. When he stopped responding, she went to his room and found he had died.

In a conversation 18 Sep 2008 with Barbara Fridlund, she said that Bessie had told her that she and Everett had taken at least two trips to Compton to see Ray when Ada was caring for him.

I have seen Ray's name as Ray Myron and as Myron Ray, but he used Ray M. for marriage license, divorce and in probate. 2nd Marriage to Mattie Crew, cert #240.

9 March 1929 Dollie and Ray Duncan executed a property settlement and apparently separated as husband and wife, though no divorce papers were filed in Tulare County that were located. His death certificate said he was divorced.

Obituary in Porterville Evening Recorder August 29, 1929.
"Ray M. Duncan, 56, member of a pioneer family of the Success valley district, died yesterday at the home of his daughter in Compton, where he had been on a visit. Word received here was to the effect that Mr.Duncan died suddenly, presumably from a heart afection. Funeral services will not be arranged until after the arrival of the remains, but will probably be Saturday morning. The deceased is survived by his sister Mrs. D. Pratt of Wilmington; brother, Claude Duncan of this city, and a son and daughter. The son is a resident of Strathmore."

August 30, 1929, this appeared in the Porterville Evening Recorder:
"Ray Duncan Funeral is Tomorrow - Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the Loyd-Frietzsche chapel for Ray Marion Duncan, 56, who passed away Wednesday evening at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ada Pratt, at Willowbrook, in southern California, following an illness of six months. Orange Camp No. 333, Woodman of the World, will be in charge of the chapel and grave service, with interment in the Home of Peace cemetery. Rev. J. A. Milligan will officiate at the chapel service if he should return from the mountains, where he is on vacation.
The deceased was born in Lemon Cove, but when he was but a child the parents moved on the South Tule. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Duncan, the parents, crossed the plains in the early days by ox team and were among the first settlers in Tulare county. The father died many years ago, but the mother, Mrs. Matilda Duncan, who passed away some three years ago, lived to an advanced age in the old home on South Tule.
The deceased went to live with his sister some three months ago. Besides the sister, he is survived by a brother, Claude Duncan of Porterville, and two children. Everett Duncan of Strathmore, and Mrs. Elsie Swift of Wilmington, California."
Copy of both articles in the possession of the author.
