Hayne DUNCAN

Hayne had the kneecaps of both legs shot off in a hunting accident anddied of blood poisoning at 16 years of age. Birth and death dates in"100 Year History of the Tule River Mountain Country" by Jeff Edwards.Globe Cemetery.
Tulare Daily Register on Thursday, Sept. 6, 1894, has this in thesection on Porterville and Vicinity:
"Hayne Duncan, who was wounded in the mountains near the hot springs,died on the eve of the 30th of August. The accident occurred on themountain back of Mr. Dodd's place about 2 o'clock p.m., one of thosehot days. Mr. Sims of Tipton left him to procure help and Haynecrawled through the brush a mile or two in search of water. It waseleven o'clock at night before they got him into camp, and he did notreach Porterville until the next night at sunset. By that time bloodpoison had set in and there was no help for him. After lingeringnearly a week he died. He was about 16 years old but a full grown,fleshy man. Mrs. Duncan has the sympathy of all as this is the fourthgrown child and her husband which have died in the past seven years."
