Individual Details
Maggie COYIER
(Bet 2 Jul 1850 and 1859 - Abt 1888)
In the 1880 census, Maggie was listed as age 21, born in Canada. That would have made her 15 when the oldest child was born. Her maiden name was listed as COYIER on daughter Ida's death certificate.
Pat Brown told me that Maggie died when Olyve was born, or within 2 weeks after.
Copy of "Family Record of O.S. McCoy and Maggie McCoy" written by Philena A. Murphy 10 Jun 1899, gives names, birth dates and places forth is family. Copy provided to author by Pat Brown. That information is used in my file and it has Maggie's birthdate as 2 July 1850.
Other possible spellings of last name: Courier, Carrier, Cowyer, Collier, Couillard, Cahier, Cayer, Cauiere, Cawyer, Cayer, Curay, Cuyer, Coyure.
May 2010, I have located a possible family in Ashland Middle Ward, Schuychill Co., PA, in the 1870 census, page 51-52. Note that those pages are filmed out of sequence. At ancestry, they are images 50 and 52 instead of 51 and 52.
Michael Coyer, 40, born Ireland, miner
Mary Coyer, 40, born Ireland
Michel Coyer, 13, laborer, born PA
Margert Coyer, 10, born PA
Mary Coyer, 8, born PA
Ellen Coyer, 4, born PA
Philphs [sic] Coyer, 1, born PA.
This Margaret is of the right age to be 21 in the 1880 census.
In 1870, P.O. Brandon, Metomen, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, pg. 10 is this:
Charles Sherwood, 54, born NY
Clarissa Sherwood, 45, born NY
Charles Sherwood, 8 born WI
Mary Sherwood, 4, born WI
O. Tryon (or Lyon), 72, born NY, "at daughters"
Maggie Coyure, 20, born Canada, domestic, both parents of foreign birth
This one is a little older and would have been 30 in 1880 census, but is possible as the year of birth would match the statement by Philena Murphy.
