Mary "Polly" Noland

(1816 - )

According to Marilee Wirkala, this is possibly an illegitimate daughter of Nancy's. When Polly married in 1832, Nancy Winkler is listed as her mother, although she is Polly Noland. In the grandmother Clarinda's gift of deed in 1816 is also a Polly Noland, granddaughter. I think there is a possibility she is a niece of Nancy's that she is raising and it was easier to say she was her mother rather than explain. There's also the problem of Nancy's age - she's really too young to have Polly - or her birthdate is off. It is quite possible Polly was born between 1815 and 1819 when her brother Henry was born and after her parents married. She married in 1832 so could have married at age 16 but this doesn't explain her surname as Noland.
Polly Noland married Robert Boulware, bond dated 2 Feb 1832, Madison Co KY. Thomas Harper was the Bondsman; Nancy Winkler, mother of the bride, gave consent. No minister's return found.

Polly (age 40) and husband Robert Boulware are in the 1850 Schuyler Co MO Census along with six daughters and a son - the son named Henry and one of the daughters named Clarinda.
