Data on the Haggard family found online. Not verified although Clinton Haggard seemed to be a thorough researcher. Gives names of published works on the Haggard family but not specific sources of information for the data.

entered before George is: John Mainard: 1 male under 5, 1 male 5-10, and 1 male 30-40. 1 female under 5, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 20-30
after George are surely two of his brothers-in-law

The Haggard files indicated the last 2 children of Ziltha & George W. were born in Crawford Co, AR. Mary Jane Comstock stated in her book that they were in the 1850 Carroll Co TN Census & then moved to Franklin, AR soon after; moved to Crawford Co, Dripping Springs about 1866. [This is wrong, George & Ziltha were in Crawford Co for the 1860 Census] Probably married Parthenia Hays about 1868 in Crawford Co AR.

In the various Haggard databases, a child S. J. Haggard, b. in 1840 is listed in the family of George and Ziltha. After finding this name in the 1870 Census, I suspect S.J. may be a misunderstanding of "P. J." Parthenia Jane "Thena" 2nd wife of George W. Haggard. There was no child of this age in the 1850 census and this is the approximate age of Parthenia.

George W. Haggard received a land patent for 162.64 acres, on 30 Oct 1857, from the land office in Clarksville - in Franklin Co AR
Two tracts - both in Section 26 Twp 8 N, Range 28 W. The North 1/2 of the NE 1/4 and the North 1/2 of the NW 1/4.
On the same day he received another 81.33 acres in Franklin:the South 1/2 of the SW 1/4 of Section 23, Twp 8 N, Range 28 W.
On 3/1/1860, he received still another 40.66 acres in Franklin (althoug I suspect he had already move) - the SW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 26, near his first patent.

In 1860, Alfred was in Franklin Co AR, p.398; household 1122. Alfd. Haggard, age 24, Martha age 21 and Wm S. age 1.

1860, George & Ziltha had already moved to Crawford Co, Lee's Creek Twp. Geo. W. Haggard age 47, b. TN. Ziltha A., age 50, b. TN. The children also were all listed as born in Tennessee: Geo. R. age 17, Wm W. age 14, Rebecca C. age 10, and Charles Mc. 7.

From the estate file of James Mainard deceased, administrator, J. W. Crabtree' final account:
"soon after he administered upson said estate which was known to be entirely solvent, he permitted G. W. Haggard who in right of his wife was one of the distributees of said dec'd, to take certain personal property purchased by him at sale of the personal estate of said deceased, and for which said Haggard executed his writings obligatory and note as far so much of his distribution share advanced to him upon an agreement that he would at the proper time execute a receipt for the amount of said writings & note which writings & note without interest amount to the sum of $138.46. That upon a like agreement the undersigned about the year 1860 paid to said Haggard in gold the sum of $20 which was also in part of such distributive share and was to be embraced in such receipt. That said Haggard was also indebted to said deceased in the sum of $20 with interest upon a promissory note with which the undersigned stands charged upon the inventory of said estate and his accounts as administrator and which it was also agreed should be deducted in settlement from the distributive share of said Haggard's wife and included in said receipts. That said Haggard's wife has since died and said Haggard removed from the county of Franklin. Your petitioner there files herewith said writings & notes of said Haggard and prays that they together with proof to be made of said payment of $20 in gold may be received as vouchers in the settlement of his account this day file and that the same may bar any claims of said Haggard's wife or her heirs to such distributive share, etc. Signed: J. W. Crabtree"

The 1870 Census shows George Hagard, age 58 born in TN and "S.J." female age 30 born in Arkansas [probably P.J. or even T. J. for "Thena"]. "C.M." "Charles" is 18, male, born in Arkansas. The Haggard files shows these to be children of George. I suspect "S.J." is actually Parthenia Jane as she was approximately that age and they had married. C. M. was of course the youngest child of George & Ziltha. George & Parthenia are on the same page of the census in Cedar Creek Twp as her brother Elias B. Hays.

On 20 Jun 1876, George W. Haggard received a patent for 80 acres in Crawford County:
Section 35, Twp 10 N, Range 32 W - the SW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 and the NW 1/4 of the SE 1/4 - these would be adjoining tracts.

Martha E., daughter, age 10. "Willie" age 8 marked as a son but this has to be Rella. Marked as twin with, Sarah, daughter age 8. Thenia, daughter age 3 and Washington, son, age 4.
