Charlene found the marriage in the "First Book of Marriage Records of Franklin Co AR". Martha was 19 and Alfred 21.

According to Haggard database Alfred was found in the Charleston, Franklin Co AR 1860 Census He is there, age 24, b. TN on p.398, Household 1122.. In his household, was Martha, b. 1839 in MS and William L. Haggard, b 1859 in AR.

Probably killed in the Civil War. If the following is his record, he fought for the Union.
Alfred M. Haggard apparently enlisted 2 Dec 1863 as a Private in Company E., Iowa 18th Infantry. Said to have been a Prisoner of War. Mustered out 22 Jun 1864, Camden, AR.

There is a pension card for Alfred M. Haggard of Company E., 18th Iowa Infantry. The widow Martha Haggard applied 28 Aug 1865, Certificate #100170. Jones W. DeArnnan applied as guardian for minor children, 26 Feb 1874, Certificate #169457

Fold3 also has a Pension Card for Martha Haggard of Arkansas, Widow of Alfred W. Haggard, Private, Co E, 18th Iowa Volunteers. Her $8 per month began as of 25 May 1864. An additional $2 was paid for the following children until the age of 16 years, beginning 25 Jul 1866:
Ziltha A., 13 June 1877 (born 1861)
Alfred M., 13 Dec 1880 (born 1864)
Note on the back - date unreadable - no more pension due as she was paid up to date of remarriage.
