Individual Details

George Riley Haggard

(1843 - 15 Feb 1885)

George R. Haggard served in the Union Army, Civil War. He enlisted as a private in Company M of the 2nd Regt, Arkansas Cavalry, and was discharged as a sergeant.

According to Comstock-Haggard and Allied Families, family stories state that because of his service in the Union Army, their home was burned and looted - about 1866 they moved to Crawford County.

1870 Crawford Co Census lists only one child for the Haggards - D. H. age 2/12, b. in AR. The month of birth is given as Nov. however - either this is an error or his age is 7 months. He wasn't a twin. Did they change this child's name to George?
