St. Joseph - Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Norbert G. ZIerden, 85, 24 Second Ave SE, who died Tuesday at St. Cloud Hospital. The Rev Thomas Gillespie will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 3 pm today at Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph. St. Joseph Holy Name Society and Senior Citizens will pray at 4 pm today and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 622 will pray at 6:30 tonight at the funeral home followed by parish prayers at 7.
Norbert Zierden was born April 2, 1902 in New Munich to John and Anna (Bredeck) Zierden. He married Verena Nathan Sept 7, 1926 in St. Joseph and had been employed by Cold Spring Granite Co. 40 years before retiring in 1967. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish, St. Joseph Senior Citizens, Holy Name Society and Fraternal Order of Eagle Aerie 622.
Survivors include his wife; daughters and son, Mrs. Thomas (Ethelinda) Keeler, Sauk Rapids; Cyril, Buffalo; Mrs. John (Anna Mae) Lansig, St. Cloud; sisters and brother, Mrs. Claude (Elizabeth) Schwieters, Melrose, Sister Agnes, OSB, St. Cloud; Sister Mary Monica, OSB, Albany; Alex, Shawano, WI; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers will be Patrick Zierden, Kevin Dickson, Steven Wenner, Steve Pfannenstein, Dennis Forberger and Loren Keeler.
