Cyril Frederick "Cy" Zierden, age 70, of Buffalo died on Wednesday, December 4, 2002 in Mesa, Arizona.
He was born on November 10, 1932, in St. Joseph, Minnesota, the son of Norbert & Verena Nathan Zierden. Cy graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud in 1950. He honorably served his Country in The United States Army during the Korean War. On November 24, 1955, Cyril Zierden & Marian Conrad were joined in holy marriage at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. God blessed their marriage with four children. He was employed for many years as a stone consultant in the commercial granite business, having worked twenty years at Cold Spring Granite and later owning & operating Delano Granite. Cy was a faithful member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Buffalo. He also belonged to The Buffalo Lions Club, Knights of Columbus Council #6608, The Korean Last Man Club, American Legion Post #270 in Buffalo & VFW Post #6915 in Cold Spring.
Survived by his loving wife, Marian Zierden; children, Patrick (Rita) Zierden of Monticello, Pamela (Kevin) Dickson, Peggy (Richard) Fouquette & Penny (Jeff) Reetz, all of Buffalo; grandchildren, Sara & Matthew, Sara, Alisa & Robert; Christopher & Ryan; sisters, Ethelinda Keeler of Sauk Rapids & Anna (John) Lansing of St. Cloud, and many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Norbert & Verena Zierden and by a grandson, Todd Michael Zierden.
A Memorial Mass for Cyril "Cy" Zierden will be held on Monday, December 9th at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of St. Francis in Buffalo. Father Tom Rayar will be the Celebrant for the Mass. Entombment in St. Francis Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 8th from 4-8 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A Knights of Columbus Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Further visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 9th from 9-10 a.m. Honorary Bearers will be Kevin Dickson, Rick Fouquette, Jeff Reetz, Christopher Fouquette & Ryan Fouquette, Sara Wolters & Matthew Zierden, Sara Dickson Alisa Dickson & Robert Dickson. The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
