New Munich - Funeral services will be 11 am Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Mrs. Claude (Elizabeth) Schwieters, 90, formerly of St. Joseph, who died Tuesday at Pine Villa Nursing Home, Melrose. The Rev James Reichert will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 3:30 pm today at Schad Funeral Home, Melrose. Melrose Senior Citizens will pray at 4 today at the funeral home in Melorse followed by New Munich Christian Mothers and Catholic Aid Society at 7:30 and parish prayers at 8.
Elizabeth Schwieters was born Oct 2, 1897 in New Munich to John and Anna (Bredeck) Zierden. She married Claude Schwieters Nov 17 1931 in New Munich and the couple farmed new New Munich until 1940 when they moved to the St. Joseph area where farmed until 1982. The couple lived at New Municgh Manor before entering Pine Village Nursing Home, Melrose, in 1985. Se was a membert of New Munich Christian Mothers and Catholic Aid Society, Immaculate Conception Parish and a former member of St. Joseph Christian Mothers.
Survivors include her husband, Melrose; sons and daughters, Clarence, Rochester; Arnold, St. Paul; Jerry, St. Cloud; Mrs. Jerome (Mary Ann) Sauerer, Winona; Mrs. Lawrence (Marlene) Herickhoff, St. Paul; brother and sisters, Alex, Shawano, WI; Sister Agnes OSB, St. Cloud; Sister Mary Monica, OSB, Albany; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, two sisters and one grandchild. Pallbearers will be Tom Sauerer, Brian Herickhoff and Mike, David, John and Paul Schwieters.
