Services will be 4 p.m. Monday at St. Benedict's Monastery Chapel, St. Joseph, for Sister Agnes (Basil) Zierden, 88, who died Wednesday at St. Scholastica Convent.Burial will be in the monastery cemetery.Friends may call from 1:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Scholastica Convent and after 7 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday at St. Benedict's Monastery Chapel. There will be a vigil wake prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the monastery chapel in St. Joseph.
Sister Agnes Zierden was born in New Munich to John and Anna (Bredeck) Zierden. She entered St. Benedict's Monastery on June 17, 1928, made her first vows July 11, 1929, and her final vows July 11, 1932. She spent her life as a homemaker in the convents in Gilman, Wadena, Robbinsdale, Waite Park, St. Cloud, St. Benedict's Monastery and St. Scholastica Convent. She also was an assistant in the cafeteria at St. Cloud Hospital and worked in occupational therapy at St. Raphael's Home.
Survivors include her brother and sister, Alex of Shawano, Wis.; and Sister Mary Monica of St. Scholastica Convent, St. Cloud. She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
