William Smythe Cable

(January 10, 1852 - October 5, 1926)

William Cable was born in Wisconsin, his mom was probably Charlotte Knapp but not 100% proven. He was the third son of Jonathan Cable and had 2 younger sisters, 2 older brothers. By 1870 the family was living on a farm in Pleasant Grove Iowa. William stayed in this farmhouse for most of his life. He married first Nellie Stroud they had 3 children, they divorced. William married second Mary Fries Lambert, they had one daughter. William's children from his first marriage stayed in touch with him and visited and William was close to his nephew Chancey Jerome who visited from Chicago often. His widow Mary wrote a really long and loving obituary at his death in 1926.
