Leonard, son of William Cable and Nellie Stroud was born and grew up in Pleasant Grove, Iowa. He and his sister Ruth were listed as perfect school attenders, never tardy never absent for at least 2 years. Leonard stayed in touch with his dad after his parents divorced. He held several jobs and lived in Chicago and Seattle. He died at age 31 of pneumonia.
