Rosemary Kurrasch Becomes Bride of Rueben Staberg
Four huge baskets of varicolored gladioli and palms formed the background in the Presbyterian church Thursday afternoon, August 11th, when Miss Rosemary Kurrasch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Kurrasch of North Hudson exchanged marriage vows with Rueben Stabert, son of Joseph Staberg.
Rev. John McR. Lilley read the simple service at 4 o'clock. Preceding the ceremony, there was a half hour of incidental music by the trio with Donna Peterson at the pipe orgran, Margaret Dorwin, violin, and Dave Dahl, cello. They also accompanied Mrs. Harold O'Connell when she sang "At Dawning" immediately before the entrance of the bridal party. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was gowned in white lace over white satin fashioned princess style with a slight train. She wore a finger tip veil and carried an arm bouquet of white roses, white sweet peas and baby's breath, tied with white tulle.
Mrs. Robert Melton, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor and Miss Juanita Lombard, also a cousin, was bridesmaid in identical floor length gowns of Alice blue lace over blue satin. Their bouquets were of pink and blue larkspur and baby's breath and they wore blush roses in their hair. Their only jewelry being turquoise bracelets, gifts from the bride.
Alphonse Staberg of St. Paul served his brother as best man and guests were ushered to their places by the bride's brother, George Kurrasch, and her cousin, Leslie Kurrasch of New Richmond.
Immediately following the ceremony there were light refreshments and a reception for more than 80 guests at the home of the bride's parents.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Kurrasch chose dubonnet chiffon and white accessories and a corsage of tea roses.
After the reception, Mr. Staberg and his bride left by motor for Chicago where they spent the weekend visiting relatives and friends. The bride wore a navy blue dirndl with navy blue accessories for traveling.
Both bride and groom are graduates of Hudson High School and the bride also spent two years at St. Olaf College.
Out of town guests at the wedding and reception were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kurrasch, son, Leslie, Ed Halverson, Mrs. Elmer Olson, Mrs. Elmer Asplund, daughters, Betty Jeanne and Yvonne of New Richmond, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Sockness and daughter, Jacqueline of Stillwater, Master Richard Geiger of Detroit, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kurrasch, Miss Elizabeth Running, Miss Inez Hodnefield, Mrs. Clyde Chell, Richard Moriarity, Mr. and Mrs. A. Rube Staberg had a miraculous escape from serious injury last Thursday when the gallery on the West End ice house, on which he was working, gave way, plunging Staberg and several huge cakes of ice to the ground 28 feet below. In the fall, Mr. Staberg injured his left ankle and arch but fortunately he was able to crawl to safety before the big chunks of ice started rolling off the broken scaffolding.
