Mrs. Jos. Staberg Dies Tuesday at a St. Paul Hospital
The community was deeply grieved on Tuesday by the death of Mrs. Jos. Staberg, who passed away at the Samaritan hospital in St. Paul at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Staberg, who had been in ill health for the past two years, was taken to the hospital three weeks ago where on Friday she underwent an operation for goitre. The news of her death was a shock to her many friends in Hudson.
Caroline Fosness was born at Trondjem, Norway on June 8, 1873. At the age of 18 she came to the United States and made her home at Garrison, South Dakota before coming to Hudson. She became the bride of Jos. Staberg of Hudson on June 23, 1899, and has since resided here. Six children, one girl and five boys, were born to this union. She was always a faithful and loving wife and mother, and will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
She leaves to mour her passing her husband and six children, Helga, James, Arthur, Singwald, Alphonse and Rueben, all of Hudson. She also leaves a sister in Norway and two brothers, Hans Fosness of Northwood, Iowa, and Theodore Fosness of Minneapolis. The brothers are expected to be present for the funeral.
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon, two o'clock at the home on Second street and 2:30 o'clock at the First Presbyterian church. Rev. J. McR. Lilley, assistged by Rev. N. L. Blomholm will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the Willow River Cemetery.
