LETTERS:
August 16, 1905 to John Staberg, Hammond, Wisconsin
Dear Brother John:-
I will now drop you a few lines and let you know we got your letter in which we see you are all well and the same I can say from us all. We have not got quite as hot weather now as we had for awhile. Well I suppose you are all settled down by this time. How is your little girl, just as fat as ever?
Signora does not walk alone yet but she pushes a chair in front of her and walks after it.
How does Karine like Hammond? Spose she is kind of homesick and lonesome.
You must write and let us know if you are coming down next Saturday or not. Well I must close for this time with love to you all and hope to hear from you soon.
From your sister, Annie E.
August 28, 1905
Dear Brother John:-
I received your letter and will now take time to answer it. I am sorry to see Karine is not well but hope she will be all right again. Well it is so warm here again that a person is almost sick from it. I spose it is just as bad in Hammond.
We were down to the Street Fair two afternoons awhile but it isn't much to see.
I asked Joe when he was going to the State Fair, he said he didn't know yet what day but I can write later and let you know if he decides.
Signore is well. Calls for cookies all day long. The boy is rather cross.
Well I will have to close as it is getting late. With love to you all from your sister,
Annie E.
October 15, 1905 to John A. Staberg, Hammond, Wis.
Dear Brother John:-
I will today take time to answer your welcome letter that I received the other day in which I see you are all well, the same I can say from us. We are having some pretty wintery weather now days, today is horrid but I suppose we can't expect any better now.
You asked about Ma and the cow. Well they get along alright I guess, so far she milks a little more now, about two quarts or maybe a little more, we haven't measured it real close.
So your house is cold, well I don't thinks ours is any better but of course its all right as long as it isn't colder outside.
How is the little girl? Hope she is well. Signora is well, running around all day. We had a letter from Martha the other day. She has a another little girl born the 13th of Sept. They had her baptized when she was a week as she was not very well but she is better now. They named her Anna. Well I must close as I have to write to Ellen and Martha too.
With love from us and a kiss from Signora to you all and hope to hear from you soon again.
From your Loving Sister,
Anna Engstrom
August 10, 1906 to John Staberg, Hammond, Wis.
Dear Brother John:-
I though I would write you a few lines to let you know that Ellen is coming home Saturday night. You know Carrie spoke about us coming out there if Ellen didn't come but I had a letter the other evening that they intended to come.
Did Carrie come out yesterday? She was in here Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday she was going as soon as it got nicer. Its awful warm here today, 'spose its the same in Hammond. You folks must try to come down so you can see Ellen while she's home. Well, I must close for this time with love from us all and hope to hear from you soon.
From you loving sister, Annie
