Notes
Death
Buena Vista, May 9. — Mrs. Minnie Niswander, in ill health for several months, died last Tuesday night at 9:40 at her home here at the age of 53 years. Mrs. Niswander was forced to take to her bed on March 17 by a severe attack of rheumatism, from which she partially recovered, only to be stricken by bronchial pneumonia. Hopes for her recovery were entertained until a very few days before her death. Mrs. Niswander was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Furr, of Augusta county. She married Simon J. Niswander, who has been dead for the past 22 years. Of this union five children survive: Miss Marguerite, and Harry, Earl, Carl, and Benjamin, all of this city. Besides her children, she is survived by her aged mother, Mrs. Edward Furr; by six brothers: C. C. Furr, of Broad Run; D. D. Furr, of Lexington; E. E. Furr, Charles Town, W. Va.; A. C. Furr, of Staunton; and B. Furr, of Washington; and by four sisters: Mrs. W. N. Key, of this city; Mrs. Newton Bailey, Mrs. Otho Cleveland, and Miss Laura Furr, of Rolla. The family removed here in 1919 from Barren Ridge, Augusta county. Brief funeral services were conducted Thursday at 9:45 from the home by her pastor, the Rev. P. A. Anthony, and after a short service at Barren Midge church in Augusta county she was buried in the adjoining cemetery, by the side of the body of her husband. The beautiful floral offerings attested the esteem in which she was held. Pallbearers were J. E. Hammers, Leslie White, V. C. Coiner, John Shuey, G. H. Higginbotham, and L. J. Nicely; flowerbearers, Calvin White and Frank McCormick, and Misses Elsie Ruebush, Evelyn White, Helen Glass, Margaret Loyal, Margaret Sites, Martha Wilberter, Virgie Drumheller, and Mrs. J. E. Key, Mrs. G. L. Borden, Mrs. J. E. Cromer, Mrs. Rufus Cline, and Mrs. R. H. Drumheller. The Daily News Leader, Staunton, Virginia, May 10, 1927
