Death
Prominent Resident of Barren Ridge Passes Away After Illness of Several Weeks. Simeon Nisewander a prominent resident of Barren Ridge, Augusta county died at his home Saturday Morning at 7 o'clock, after an illness of several weeks. Death resulted from heart failure. Mr Nisewander had been in bad health for some time previous to his death and, although his family realized that his recovery was extremely doubtful, his death was a shock to his many friends not only in Augusta county, but also in Rockingham, where he has a large circle of friends. Mr. Nisewander was a son of the late Joseph Nisewander, of Augusta county, and was about forty three years of age. He served as constable for a number of years and was later a deputy sheriff under former Sheriff N. C. Watts, of Augusta. He was engaged in the machine business at the time of his death and was one the most substantial citizens of his community. He was a member of the Baptist church and of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics. He is survived by a widow, who was a Miss Furr, of Verona, and five children, the youngest of whom was born ten days ago; three sisters, Miss Lydia Nisewander, of South English, Iowa; Mrs. Coffman and Mrs. Drumheller, both of Augusta county; and two brothers Messrs. Benjamin of Kinross, Iowa; and Jesse Nisewander of Barren Ridge. Miss Lydia who is a trained nurse in South English had been summoned to her bedside but arrived four or five hours after death. Mr. Nisewander was related to many families in Rockingham and was almost as well known in this county as in his own community. The funeral was held Sunday morning at the Baptist Church at Barren Ridge, Rev. Mr. Taylor conducted the services which were attended by the local Council of Juniors in a body.Rockingham Register, Rockingham, Virginia, January 13, 1905
