Death
WEYERS CAVE — Mrs. Halcie Cornelia Snow Furr, 93, widow of Oscar Alwin Furr, and a resident of Weyers Cave, died at Staunton Manor Nursing Home Thursday evening (Dec. 30, 1976). She had not enjoyed good health for some time. A daughter of Robert S. and Sally (Garland) Snow, she was born on Aug. 4, 1883 in Augusta County. She was a member of Weyers Cave United Methodist Church. On Aug. 26, 1903 she married Oscar Alwin Furr, who died in September 1939. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Elna Brown of Strasburg, Mrs. Ruth Wrenn of Weyers Cave, Mrs. Janie Saufley of Huntington, Ind., Mrs. Anna Whissen of Harrisonburg, and Mrs. Mary Lee Diehl of Mt. Sidney, two sons, Robert A. of Huntington, Ind., and Stanley A. Furr of Waynesboro; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Furr was the surviving member of her immediate family. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Lindsey and Koontz Funeral Home at Weyers Cave by the Rev. Harold Skelton. Burial will be in Pleasant View Lutheran Church Cemetery. The body is at Lindsey and Koontz Funeral Home at Weyers Cave.Endnotes
