Death
Stanley A. "Buzz" Furr, 77, of 1194 Westmoreland Dr., Harrisonburg, died Saturday evening (October 16, 1999) at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg. He was born November 29, 1921, in Weyers Cave, the son of Oscar Alwin and Halsie Cornella Snow Furr. Before moving to Harrisonburg of which he was a resident for 5 years, he was a resident of Hermitage area of Augusta Co., was owner of Lazy "F" Farm for 46 years, was a Charolais Cattle Breeder, a member of the Charlois Association, retired from the Waynesboro Dupont Company with 40 years of service, a Navy veteran, a member of First Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro for 44 years and was presently a member of Cooks Creek Presbyterian Church of Harrisonburg. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Janie Saufley and Mary Lee Diehl. Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Novella Fauber Furr; a brother, Robert A. Furr of Martinsburg, West Virginia; sisters, Elna Brown of Strasburg, Ruth Wrenn of Fishersville, Anna Whissen of Harrisonburg; a number of nieces and nephews as well as a special friend and helper, Carl Coiner. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro and also at 7:00 p.m. at the Cooks Creek Presbyterian Church on Mt. Clinton Pike in Harrisonburg by Dr. Woodward D. Morriss. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial services. A private family buiral will be held earlier on Tuesday.
