Death
Elna Furr Brown, 97, of 139 High St., Strasburg, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home, Winchester. Mrs. Brown was born March 4, 1905, in Augusta County, the daughter of Oscar Alvin and Cornelia Florence Snow Furr. She was a secretary for Earl Keister at the Northern Virginia Daily and a dental assistant for Dr. Walker Jordan. She was a member of Strasburg United Methodist Church and the Strasburg Garden Club. She attended Madison College and Dunsmore Business School. She was married to Carl Granville Brown. Surviving are a daughter, Ginger B. Aliotti of Strasburg; a son, Robert G. Brown Sr. of Winchester; two sisters, Ruth F. Wrenn of Fishersville and Anna F. Whissen of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riverview Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael T. Frank officiating. The family will receive friends after the funeral at Mrs. Brown's home. Memorials may be made to Strasburg United Methodist Church, 114 W. Washington St., Strasburg 22657, or to a favorite charity. Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg, is handling the arrangements.Endnotes
