MOUNT SIDNEY – Mary Lee Diehl, 61, of Rt. 1, Mount Sidney died Friday afternoon at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient one month. She had been failing health 6 ½ years. Mrs. Diehl was born Jan 9, 1917 at Weyers Cave and was a daughter of the late Oscar A. and Halcie Snow Furr. She was a member of Weyers Cave United Methodist Church and attended Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday school class. On Feb. 28, 1940, she married Leon H. Diehl, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Donald G. Diehl of Mount Sidney; a daughter, Dianne Sheets of Norman, Okla.; four sisters, Elna Brown of Strasburg, Ruth Wren of Middlebrook, Janie Saufley of Huntington, Ind. and Anna Whissen of Harrisonburg; two brothers, Stanley A. Furr of Waynesboro and Robert A. Furr of Martinsburg, W. Va., and four grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Glenn Garner and Rev. James L. Mahaffey. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the Lindsey Weyers Cave Funeral Home. The family will receive friends in their home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1221 N. Main St., Harrisonburg 22801.
