Death

MOUNT PLEASANT — Paul S. Furr, 84, of Route 1, 29082 Lambert Road, died at 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, 1991, at the Albemarle Unit of Lutheran Nursing Homes. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Herrins Grove Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder Rom Kerley and Elder Homer Poplin. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle, tonight from 6 to 8, and the remainder of the time at the home of a daughter, Bernice Thompson of 709 Love St., Albemarle. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Memorials may be made to the Albemarle Unit of Lutheran Nursing Homes, Inc. Route 1 Box 204, Albemarle, N.C. 28001. Born Sept. 3, 1906, in Albemarle, Furr was a son of the late Raleigh and Minta Magalene Eudy Furr. A retired farmer, he attended Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Two sons, Paul K. and Doyle L. Furr, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Fannie Moyle Furr, also of the nursing home; three sons, Jay Van, Cecil James and Donnie Dewey Furr, all of Albemarle, three other daughters, Louise Holt of Mount Pleasant and Dorothy Hopkins and Rose Ellen “Peggy” Holt, both of Albemarle, 14 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
