Death

ALBEMARLE -- Mrs. Thompson, 76, of 709 Love Street, died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Jonnie's Home for the Elderly. She was born September 1, 1929 in Stanly County, NC, a daughter of the late Paul S. and Fannie Moyle Furr. Graveside service is 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 7, at Herrin's Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Reese English officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM Wednesday at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. Mrs. Thompson was retired from the purchasing department of Wiscasset Mills. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include her brothers, Cecil James Furr, Jay Van Furr and Donnie Dewey Furr, all of Albemarle; sisters, Louise Furr Holt of Mt. Pleasant, Dorothy Furr Hopkins and Peggy Furr Holt, both of Albemarle; stepsons, Jerry Thompson of Albemarle, Phillip Thompson of Georgia; grandchildren, Theresa Elizabeth Johnson, Mark Eugene Thompson, Michelle Elizabeth Thompson, and Erik Allen Thompson; four step grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Allen Thompson and son, Stephen Sherwin Hopkins.
