Death
MORGANTON — Margaret Furr Singleton, 90, of Route 9 Morganton, died Monday in a Morganton nursing home after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late R. Harper Singleton and a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Riley Furr. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William Hayes of Gastonia; two brothers, Lonnie Furr of Albemarle and Paul Furr of Mount Pleasant; a sister, Clara Connell of Albemarle; three stepdaughters, Mrs. J.J. Harris Sr., Mrs. Will Golightly and Mrs. Macie Whisnant of Morganton; a stepson, R. Woodrow Singleton of Morganton; and several grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Kirksey Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Curtis Sides will officiate. Burial will be in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.Asheville Citizen-Times, Asheville, North Carolina, April 28, 1981
