Death
ALBEMARLE — Rosana Furr Almond Whitley, 88, of Route 4, died Feb. 12, 1990, at the Albemarle Unit of Lutheran Nursing Homes. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Canton Church, conducted by Gary Hunsucker. Burial will be in Bear Creek Primitve Church cemetery. The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle, tonight from 7 to 9. Born July 28, 1901, in Albemarle, Mrs. Whitley was a daughter of the late Adam Lovely and Martha Furr Furr. A homemaker, she was a member of Canton Baptist Church. Her first husband, Travis M. Almond, and her second husband, Walter Hervy Whitley, preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, Aubrey Almond of Norwood and Travis Junior and Lentz Almond, both of Albemarle; a daughter, Mildred Barbee of Albemarle; two brothers, Grover and Millard Furr, both of Albemarle; five sisters, Martha Coppaway of Concord, Tina Tucker of Stanfield, Flora Belle Burris of New London, Clora Almond and Elmira Burris, both of Albemarle; two stepsons, Garrett Whitley of High Point and Claude Whitley of Albemarle; seven step- daughters, Addie Mae Huneycutt and Ethel Lee Morgan, both of Stanfield, Ola Mae Snotherly and Edith Whitley, both of High Point, Edna Quick of Oakboro, Irene Almond and Ora Lee Harward, both of Albemarle; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.Endnotes
