Death

Flora Belle Furr Burris, 90, of 29680 Burris-Burleson Rd., New London died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 1997, in Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center. Her funeral will b at 2 p.m. Saturday with a 30-minute state in Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church of Oakboro, where she was a member. Elder Rom Kerley and The Rev. Darrell Huneycutt will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Born Oct. 30, 1906, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Martha Furr and was homemaker. Her husband, Oscar Lee Burris, preceded her in death, as did a son, Cecil Burris. She is survived by two sons, Ted Burris of Concord and Lewis Burris of New London; a daughter, Helen Dennis of Albemarle; a brother, Grover Furr of Albemarle; four sisters, Clora F. Almond and Martha F.Coppaway, both of Concord, Elmira F. Burris of Albemarle and Tinia F. Tucker of Oakboro; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm. Friday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. At other times they will be at the home of Helen Dennis, 1505 Lee-Lynn Dr., Albemarle.
