Death
ALBEMARLE, July 31 — John Henry Furr, 60, retired farmer of Route 1, Stanfield, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Cabarrus Hospital at Concord after an illness of several years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church by Elders Clarence Whitley, Jason Eudy, and the Rev. L D. Scruggs. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Furr is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Burris Furr; five daughters, Mrs. Rachel Liles of Concord; Mrs. Beatrice Borrow Jr., of Jackson, Mrs. Truly Smith of Albemarle, Mrs. Hazel Little of Locust and Mrs. Jane Little of Salisbury; five sons, Floyd and Timothy Furr of Albemarle, Joseph of Midland, Leonard of Locust and Paulie Furr of the home; seven sisters, Misses Dora and Martha Furr of Route 1, Stanfield, Mrs. Rosanna Whitley of Route 3, Albemarle, Mrs. Clora Almond of Route 1, Stanfield, Mrs. Tina Tucker of Oakboro, Mrs. Flora Bell Burris of New London, and Mrs. Elmira Burris of Route 3, Albemarle; and three brothers, Millard and Grover Furr of Route 3, Albemarle and Luther Furr of Concord; and his stepmother, Mrs. Josephine Furr of Route 1, Stanfield.News and Record, Greensboro, North Carolina, August 1, 1959
