Death
LOCUST Leonard Ransom Furr, 86, passed away Friday, July 29, 2011, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Mr. Furr was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Stanly County. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Eudy Furr, in 2009; his father, John Henry Furr; his mother, Sarah Cleonia Burris Furr; and his brothers, Paulie Furr, Timothy Furr, Joseph Furr and Floyd Furr. Mr. Furr was a carpenter. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 31, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday morning, Aug. 1, at Bear Creak Primitive Baptist Church officiated by Elder Richie Broadway. Mr. Furr's grandson, Trent Yow, will assist with the service. Burial will follow in the cemetery of Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church of Locust. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Survivors include his son, Ranny Gene "Runt" Furr and his wife, Nancy, of New London; his daughters, Blinda Hartsell and her husband, Jimmie, of Locust; Joyce Harris and her husband, Ronnie, of Ridgecrest; Vicky Yow and her husband, Terriell, of Stanfield; his sisters, Beatrice Barrow, of Jackson, N.C.; Rachel Lyles, of Concord; Trullie Smith and Jane Little, both of Albemarle, and Hazel Little, of Locust; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is assisting the Furr family.
