Death
KANNAPOLIS — George Hoke “Bud” Furr, 55, of 308 S. East Ave, died Tuesday morning at his home after being in declining health for a number of years. The funeral will be 4 p.m. on Thursday in the Fourlane Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Harry Ferguson, the Rev.Bud Shepherd, the Rev. Robert Ferguson and the Rev. Lee Canup. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will be at Lady's Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 8 30 o'clock. Born Feb. 9, 1924, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Furr was a son of the late George and Minnie Furr. He retired in October of 1977 from Cannon Mills, Plant Four. Survivors include his wife, Grace Wagoner Furr, one daughter, Mrs Betty Gaskins of Cherry Point, one son, Donald Ray Furr of Salisbury, four sisters, Mrs. Helen Elwood and Mrs. Ruth Burnette, both of Kannapolis, Mrs Cordie Jarvis of Concord and Mrs. Gurtie Mills of Baltimore, Md., one half-sister, Mrs. Frances Hicks of Kannapolis, two stepsister, Mrs. Carl Tucker of Kannapolis and Mrs. Odell Sloop of China Grove, three stepbrothers, J. B. and E. V. Mills, and G. T. Tucker, all of Kannapolis, his stepmother, Mrs Connie Furr of Kannapolis, and eight grandchildren.Military
