Death

KANNAPOLIS - Mr. Donald Ray "Buddy" Furr, 63, of 5210 Halverson Court, died Thursday, July 6, 2006, at his residence following a period of declining health. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Second Baptist Church, Kannapolis, with the Rev. Harry "Trooper" Ferguson officiating. Interment will be a Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Whitley's Funeral Home. Mr. Furr was born Jan. 5, 1943, in Stanly County, the son of the late George Hoke Furr and Grace Wagner Furr of Concord. Mr. Furr was retired from Tuscarora Yarns in China Grove after 10 years of service. He was a member of Vision Baptist Church. He was an avid bowler, hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, whom he married May 14, 1962, Linda Brafford Furr of the home; sons, Donald Chris Furr and wife, Carla Scott Furr, Kelly Furr, Brian Furr and wife, Tesha, and Mark Furr and wife, Tammy; daughter, Brandi Furr and Jeff, all from Kannapolis; mother, Grace Wagner Furr of Concord; sister, Betty Gaskins and husband, Mike, of Havelock; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family headquarters will be at the residence, 5210 Halverson Court, Kannapolis. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Furr.
