Death
KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Saturday for Ruth Furr Burnett, 72, 422 Sycamore Ave, who died Thursday (Feb. 2, 1995) at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, Concord. She had been in declining health for two years and seriously ill for two months. Born Feb. 22, 1922, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Burnett was a daughter of the late George P. and Minnie Clontz Furr. She retired from Cannon Mills Co. Plant 1 spooler room. Her husband, Murry Lee Burnett, died Jan. 1, 1995, a son, Melvin Lee Burnett, died Feb. 9, 1992. Survivors include daughter Elizabeth Ann Starnes, Kannapolis, sons Earl Wayne and Floyd Eugene Burnett, both of Kannapolis; sister Helen Elwood, Kannapolis, half sister Frances Lefler, Kannapolis, stepsisters Odell Sloop, China Grove, and Geneve Tucker, Kannapolis, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Lady's Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Robert Ferguson and the Rev. Raymond Ross. Burial at West Lawn Cemetery, China Grove. Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of son Floyd Burnett, 1360 Midlake Ave.Endnotes
