Death
ROCK HILL, July 19 (Special) — James Herbert Furr, Sr., 63, of 133 Highland St, Rock Hill, died early today in a Columbia hospital after a year's illness. Mr. Furr was born in York County, son of the late Charles and Irene Mangrum Furr. He had been employed at Highland Park Mill for 40 years, and at the time of his illness he was the plant's supply clerk. For a number of years he was manager of the Highland Park baseball team and a member of Park Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ada May Williams Furr; two sons, J. H. Furr, Jr., of Rock Hill and Ernest F. Furr of Aiken; two daughters, Mrs. J. B. Williams of Atlanta and Mrs. Philip White of Savannah, Ga.; one brother, Melvin B. Furr of Rock Hill; one sister, Mrs. W. A. Stephenson of Charlotte; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 pm. Saturday from Greene Funeral Home.The State, Columbia, South Carolina, July 20, 1957
