Death

Melvin B. Furr, 49, of 5 Church St., Rock Hill, died yesterday afternoon shortly after becoming ill at the Industrial Mill, where he was employed as head of the supply room. Funeral will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Bethel Methodist Church, with the Rev. W. H, Smith and the Rev. L. C. McKinney in charge. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park with Masonic rites. Furr was born Oct. 2, 1947, in Rock Hill, son of the late Charles and Irene Manerum Furr. He was a member and steward of Bethel Methodist Church and a Mason. On Dec. 23, 1931 he was married to Miss Ethel Wright of Rock Hill, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Janet Jacobs of Charlotte; one son, Gary Furr of Rock Hill; two grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. W, A. Stephenson of Charlotte. Masons have been asked to meet at the Masonic Hall at 4:15 p.m. tomorrow. The body will remain at Bass Funeral Home until the hour of the service.
