Notes
Death
Faithful Employee for 36 Years Goes to Eternal RewardFuneral services for Charles Furr who died Sunday afternoon at his Goins street home were held Sunday afternoon at the home, conducted by Rev. H. A. Whitten, pastor of Park Methodist Church. The esteem in which he was held evidenced by the many beautiful floral offerings and the large concourse of relatives and friends present. Mr. Furr had lived in Rock Hill for nearly forty years, coming here from Concord. N. C., where he was born Jan. 1864. In 1890 he married Miss Katherine Irene Mangum, and of this union four children survive, as follows: James Herbert, Melvin B., Miss Mildred Jeanette, and Mrs. B. D. Partlow, all of this city. Surviving also are three brothers, George and Henry Furr, of Concord and James Furr, of York. He was a valuable employee of the Highland Pork Manufacturing Co., and was with the former Standard Manufacturing Co., which was the predecessor of the present plant, having served in all for thirty-six years. For twenty three years he had been connected with the local Methodist denomination, first with St. Johns church and becoming a charter member of Park Methodist church upon its organization. Up to the time of his last illness, he was scarcely ever absent from services. He was also a charter member of the local camp of Woodmen of the World, and active in its interests.
