Death
Mr. Dewey Dewitt Furr, age 70, of 111 Jenkins St., Locust, NC, died Tuesday, January 1, 1985, at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte. Services will be held 4 PM Thursday, January 3, at Mill Grove United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kinney Wallace and the Rev. James Finney officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. Mr. Furr was born in Cabarrus County, NC, on February 1, 1914, son of the late Oliver Brown “O.B" Furr and the late Mrs. Neta Garmon Furr. He was a former Manager of O.B. Furr ESSO Distributor and a retired Diesel Mechanic for Harris Teeter. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Etta Hall Furr; three sons, William Furr of Mint Hill, NC, Lowery Furr of Charlotte, and Jan Furr of Locust, NC; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Hartsell of Locust, Mrs. Sylvia Bowers of Garden Grove, CA; one brother, Troy Furr of Concord, NC; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.
