Death
LOCUST -- Sylvia Frances Furr Bowers, 64, of 111 Jenkins Drive, died Friday, January 17, 2003. Funeral service is 2 PM Sunday, January 19, at Mill Grove United Methodist Church, Midland, with Reverend Arval Rushing officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM tonight at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. Mrs. Bowers was born in Midland, NC on December 12, 1938, tot he late Etta Frances Hall Furr and Dewey Dewitt Furr. She was a Country and Western Recording Artist, and a homemaker. Mrs. Bowers was a member of Mill Grove United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughters, Cynthia Morin of Wesley Chapel, NC, Robin Wright of Nashville, TN, Sharon Barber of Sacramento, CA, Melody Dubois of Canyon Lake, CA and Jennifer Meziere of Escondido, CA; brothers, William Furr of Mint Hill, NC and Jan Furr of Locust; sister, Betty Hartsell of Locust, NC; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center, 101 Manning Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514. To a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, you were taken too soon and will be loved, missed and cherished forever.
