Death
Mr. Lowery DeWitt Furr, 59, of 7935 Rainbow Drive, Charlotte, NC, died Friday, July 12, 1996, in Lake Wylie, SC. Funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 1996, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland Chapel, with the Revs. D.O. Lingafelt and Kinney Wallace officiating. Burial is in Sunset Memory Gardens, Charlotte. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at the funeral home in Midland and other times at the residence. Born Dec. 1, 1936, in Midland, NC, he was son of the late Dewey DeWitt Furr and a US Army veteran. Lowery attended Midland School and Bethel High School, and retired as a truck driver from P.L.E. Nationwide with 30 years service. He was a friend to all people. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Mary W. Furr of Charlotte; two sons, Jeffery D. Furr and children, Blake and Drew of Dickson, Tenn., Gregory A. Furr and children, Cody and Dalton of Indian Trail; daughter, Mrs. Desiree F. Freeman and children, Jesse, Chase, Chelena of Charlotte; mother, Mrs. Etta H. Furr of Locust; two brothers, Bill Furr of Mint Hill and Jan Furr of Locust; two sisters, Mrs. Betty Hartsell of Locust and Mrs. Sylvia Bowers of Stanfield; and nieces and nephews.
