Death
STANFIELD — Elma Furr Osborne, 79, of Elm Street, died early today at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Locust with the Rev. Kenny Wallace and the Rev. Dwight Mabry officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Born Sept. 20, 1907, in Stanly County, a daughter of the late Nelson and Eliza Jane Drye Furr, she was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Locust. Her husband, Dwight G. Osborne, died in 1966. Survivors include two sons, Jerry R. Osborne of Locust and D.G. Osborne of Stanfield; a daughter, Trenna Huneycutt of Stanfield; a brother, Ralph C, Furr of Stanfield; and six grandchildren.The Salisbury Post, Salisbury, North Carolina, May 19, 1987
