Death
Mrs. Bessie Furr Huneycutt, 60, wife of Rev. C. C. Honeycutt, widely known Baptist minister of Stanly county, died Monday afternoon about 1:15. She had been in poor health for the past year, suffering from a tumor of the brain. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James A. Furr and was a native of this county. They had been living for some time in the Locust community and she was a member of the Locust Baptist church. Mrs. Honeycutt was widely known and was loved by all who knew her. She had been very active in assisting her husband in church work. Final rites were conducted for Mrs. Honeycutt Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Locust Baptist church by the pastor, Rev. W. L. Pitts, assisted by Rev. W. J., Russell. The body lay in state in the church for an hour before the service and burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Honeycutt is survived by her husband; four sons, Clyde and Rev. E. J. of Albemarle, Melvin T. of Linwood, and Loy of Locust; one daughter, Mrs. Coy Barbee, Stanfield, route 2; two brothers, Arthur J. and Richard E. Furr; and three sisters, Mrs. M. F. Honeycutt, Mrs. D. A. Treece, and Mrs. James Treece, all of Locust.Stanly News and Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, May 13, 1949
