Death
E. Price Furr, 50, 127 Bost Street, died unexpectedly at 9 p.m. yesterday at his home. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Furr had undergone treatment for a heart ailment but was in his usual good health Thursday and was ill for only a short time before his death. He was a foreman at Stimpson Hosiery Mills where he had been enployed (sic) for the past 26 years. Eldra Price Furr was born in Statesville on September 15, 1910, son of the late Matthew M. and Mary Sides Furr. On March 26, 1937, he was married to the former Laurine Henkel, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, William Price and Thomas Henkel Furr, both of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Fred E. Herrin of Statesville; and Mrs. Hugh Harkey and Mrs. Pharel Herlocker, both of Albemarle. Mr. Furr was an active member of Race Street Methodist Church where he was a former steward and Boy Scout committeeman. He was also active in Statesville Elks Lodge No. 1823, and was a former volunteer fireman and member of Statesville Odd Fellows. He was a veteran of World War II. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Race Street Methodist Church with Rev. John K. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
