Death
Thomas Henkle Furr, 16, of 127 Bost Street, Statesville, who died as a result of being shocked by lightning Thursday afternoon, was the son of a former Stanly resident. Young Furr, a star athlete at Statesville High School, was working as a caddy on the golf course when the bolt struck, knocking him and five others unconscious. He died about 8:30 in a Statesville Hospital after frantic efforts had been made to revive him. He was born December 16, 1947, son of Mrs. Laurine Henkle Furr and the late Eldra Price Furr. In addition to his mother, he is survived by one brother, William Furr of Statesville. Funeral services were held at 3 p. m. Saturday at Race Street Methodist Church, conducted by Rey. John K.
