ALBEMARLE — Mrs. Gladys Furr Harkey, 73, of Route 3 died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday in Stanly Memorial Hospital. The funeral was to have been at 3 pm today at Friendship United Methodist Church by the Rev. Everett Wright. Burial was to have been in Stanly Garden of Memory. Born Nov 27, 1908, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Matthew Furr and Mary Janes Sides. She was retired from Wiscasset Mills Co. and a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, B. Hugh Harkey, two sons, Charles Harkey of Taylors, S.C, and Sam Harkey, of Charlotte, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.Endnotes
