Obituary provided by Oelwein Area Genealogical Society: Mrs. Elsie Medaus died Thursday, 19 October 1989 at Oelwein Care Center, age 87. She lived at 115 First Avenue SW in Oelwein and was a retired homemaker. Funeral services were held at Hintz Geilenfeld Funeral Home and burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. She was survived by 2 sons, Richard Shepherd of Oelwein and Charles Shepherd of Colorado Springs, Colorado and her daughter Mrs. Stanley (Lucile) Zolczynski of Oelwein. She had 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Frederick Medaus who was born 4 November 1898 and died 25 November 1968, age 70. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters.
